Мария е била девойка, която е можела да износи дете, а не дете, което не е влязло в пубертета.

Друг проблем е, че богословската значимост на Йосиф и Мухаммад за християнството и исляма е несъпоставима (т.е. имаме логическате заблуда на погрешната еквивалентност). За разлика от мюсюлманския възглед за Мухаммад, християните не смятат Йосиф за усуа хасана (съвършен модел на подражание). Нравственият облик на Йосиф не е от значение за християнската теология. Той би могъл да бъде и луд, и това не би било от значение за християните.

След това налице е фактът, че както според християнските, така и според ислямските писания, Мария е била девица, когато е заченала и е родила Иисус; следователно, нейната връзка с Йосиф не би могла да бъде от сексуален характер, поне до раждането на Иисус, което означава, че Мария би трябвало да бъде вероятно на 17 години, когато бракът ѝ е бил консумиран, ако въобще това се е случило.  

Освен  това същата страница New Advent Catholic Encyclopedia продължава разказа за живота на Йосиф, като заявява, че и Мария, и Йосиф са сключили брак с договорката, че никога няма да бъде консумиран.<ref name="Catholic Encyclopedia 4">"''This marriage, true and complete, was, in the intention of the spouses, to be virgin marriage (cf. Приснодевствеността на Мария – вярването, че Мария е останала девица през целия си живот, е съществен елемент на вярата за мнозинството от християните по света (в това число – римокатолици, англикани, източно-православни и дохалкидонски християни).
